Green leaves and Karma
Apr/17/10 23:51
Karma is a bitch. Who knew it could come around so
fast?
We had a medium turnout. (Quantity, not quality!) Tom, Nick S., Nick B., John S., Andy, Carena, Lucas, John Sr., Court, Devin, and Duane. And the leaves-the leaves turned out. Range was way down, cover was very thick. Thanks to Andy for getting these great pics!
We played elimination most of the day, with the exception of two games.
1. John S. and Nick B. against the rest of us. The two of them got 65 hit point apiece, plus a .2 fire rate. John managed to land 122 hits in that game. Wow!
2. 3 on 3 on 3. Teams 1 and 2 managed to waste each other, 5 of the 6 players dying. Lucas was the only survivor of that encounter. A minute later, he ran into a 3-way crossfire from team 3. It was not pretty. After Lucas walked back to the dead zone, John S. noticed that everybody besides team 3 was dead. I call them on the radio.
“Hey guys, you killed everybody.” The reply came back:
“What? No we didn’t.”
“Okay, you killed the last single opponent. You won.”
“Oh-ok!”
The other highlight of the day for me was about half-way through the day. John S. and Nick S. followed me from our start point of south blue all the way up blue, to yellow to north, while Carena covered blue. As soon as the game started, we ran. No- we flew. Made it up to yellow north in record time, where we held up 20 feet in from north. Duane was walking along north to green. We held our shots for a 5-count, then let loose. He got walloped in the biggest way, but managed to get away!
Remember that karma I mentioned? Well... toward the end of the game John S and I were running down pink to help out our team. Devin popped out on south and pink, and walloped me. I fall back up pink. I take another hit-I fall further back up pink to red. I take another hit. I call it in, asking for help, since I have no bloody idea where the attack is coming from. I drop to my haunches, and take another hit. I kneel down, take another hit. I lay down, I take another hit. I lay face down, my face in the dirt. No hits. I raise my head an inch-I take a hit. CRAP!! Down to one hit left. Luckily John S. comes in to help, and engages my attacker-Duane! I use the distraction to book it up pink, then west around to the cars, where I now know Duane is. Where he happens to be waiting in ambush, and pops me my last hit. This whole while it turns out he had one hit left.
I have never had karma come around so fast before. The lesson to learn from this? Kill your prey while you have the chance, they fight nasty when wounded!
